FAST Card FAQ

Support help line: 1-855-760-0888

FAST Card is an initiative from the US Customs and Border Protection designed to expedite land crossing between Canada and the US for commercial truck drivers.

If you are a truck driver, an American or Canadian citizen, or a Permanent Resident of either country, you may be eligible for a Free And Secure Trade (FAST) Card.

A FAST Card is an identity document that allows you and your truck to be pre-cleared for customs when crossing the Canada-US border.

A FAST Card lets you make use of special FAST lanes at certain border crossings.

I am class 1 license holder and planning to work for trucking company between Canada-US transportation. Presently I am NOT employed, Can I get FAST card? I am a clean record Canadian citizen.

Yes you can apply.

LOst FAST Card looking for phone number or can we just go to Border to replace it?

First, you need to report it missing, which you can do at any FAST Enrolment Centre.

Then you will have to get a replacement.

Can anyone apply for a fast card

You must be a citizen of either the US or Canada and reside in one of those two countries, or you must be a permanent resident of one of the two countries with a visa to the other (if applicable).

Do I need to renew my passport to keep my fast card? My passport is up for renewal but not my fast card and I use my fast card for work I’m a truck driver

You should renew your passport because not all CBSA and CBP agents may accept your FAST Card as a passport substitute.

Is there an American office to apply for a fast card at?

You have three options for applying for a FAST Card:

You cannot apply in person directly with the government either in the USA or Canada.

I have a provincial record, but i am also 50% native with a blood quantum letter. I currently have charges I am dealing with but they are allegations and the court keep delaying it and not allowing me to deal with it. They are federal charges.. am i still able to get a FAST card for work purposes

Are we talking about charges or convictions? Your current charges may not affect your FAST Card eligibility (depending upon whether or not CBSA and CBP are aware of the charges) but previous convictions make you ineligible. It is on yo to prove that you have overcome your past criminality and certainly pending charges do not help. So normally we would say “No, you are not eligible for a FAST Card.”

The one wrinkle here is your blood quantum letter. Our understanding is that this letter essentially entitles you to legal status in both countries. It doesn’t resolve your criminal issue, but it may make you “admissible” for immigration purposes to the US despite your criminal record. The question then becomes, which is more important, that you’re admissible to the US under a very old treaty, or that you have a criminal record and would normally not be eligible for a FAST Card?

The only way you can know for sure is to apply for a FAST Card, as it’s up to the officers reviewing your case as to whether or not you get the card. I’d wait until you resolve these pending charges, though.

I need to update my passport and drivers license on my fast card

You update your passport and driver’s license for your FAST Card by logging onto TTP.

Alternatively, you can go to the nearest enrolment centre and update the information in person.

How to apply for canada u.s fast card

Provided you are eligible, you can apply for a FAST Card at the following website: TTP. This is the official government site. If you would like assistance, you can complete this form and email, fax or mail it in.

You must be either a citizen or permanent resident of either Canada or the US, you must have a commercial driver’s license and, if you’re a permanent resident of one country, you must have a valid visa to the other if this is required for nationals of your country.

I have nexus car but what is a fast card

FAST stands for Free And Secure Trade but you can think of it like NEXUS for commercial truck drivers. FAST Card applicants are those drivers who plan to be crossing the border with commercial loads frequently. A FAST Card does not entitle you to NEXUS membership privileges.

can i get a fast card if i have over stayed my time in the u.s. and got a 5 year bar and have a valid waiver?

You can certainly apply.

Whether or not you are granted a FAST Card will depend upon whether or not US CBP thinks there is a chance of you overstaying again. It will be at the discretion of the officer and the only way you can find out is by applying.

However, we think your chances are slim.

How do I activate my fast card

Log in to your TTP account. After you have agreed to the terms, there should be an option to activate the card by entering information from the card into the webpage.

how do you report lost fast card?

Go to the nearest enrolment centre to report it missing, or you can report it lost through the TTP website.
