Welcome to the FAQ website covering document topics in Canada.
I AM PERMANENT RESIDENT SPONSORED BY SPOUSE, AND BY LAW I AM SUPPOSED TO LIVE WITH HER FOR TWO YEARS MINIMUM BEFORE WE MAY DECIDE TO LIVE APART, BUT MY SPOUSE DOES NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE AGAIN TO LIVE WITH ME AFTER HAVING LIVED WITH HER FOR LESS THAN ONE YEAR AND WANTS TO PUSH ME OUT. WHAT HAPPENS TO MY PERMANENT RESIDENCE STATUS? DO I STILL MAINTAIN MY STATUS WHEN SHE FINALLY PUSHES ME OUT WITHIN LESS THAN A YEAR OF LIVING WITH HER?
The law is supposed to change in 2017; sometime in the spring conditional permanent residence may end. However, if you are no longer living with your wife before the law changes, and the government finds out, you will be asked to leave Canada.
