I have a valid Canadian passport with an expiry date of 2012 01 04. I am planning to travel to Thailand possibly the end of Jan. or in February. I am just now filing for a renewal on my passport but I understand that Thailand requires that the passport be valid 6 months prior to travel to this country. Does this mean that I cannot go or is this “renewed” passport OK?

You are required to have at least 6 months validity on your passport to travel to Thailand. As you are in the process of renewing you will have a new passport in time for travel, which will be valid for 5 years. Please note you are required to obtain a visa to travel to Thailand (this cannot be issued until the new passport has been issued)
