I applied for permanent residence in March of 2015 I have had series of letter sent to me and telling me what steps to take. Contacted cic recently and they said I have to wait. Now my problem is my daughters temporary resident permit is expired (she’s only 3 years old and she was born in the states) am trying to get subsidy to help with her daycare payment and the have refused telling me I need to get a valid ID that shows her status in Canada. I called CIC and they don’t seem to have an answer for me other than I should wait. Am to start school on the 5th and I am not able to because both my kids are stranded for subsidy the price is too much to even consider paying it on my own. My husband is the only person working and I am in school so no way. Am confused and don’t know what documents I can give children services because Vos takes 6 months and apparently a lady at cic told me that will do no good for my daughter.

So, what is going on depends what type of permanent residence application you have submitted.

  • If this is a sponsorship, you will have to comply with all the correspondence and wait. There’s nothing you can do to speed it up. OR
  • If this is a live-in caregiver application, you will have to comply with all the correspondence and wait. There’s nothing you can do to speed it up. OR
  • If this was through Express Entry, it sounds like you have only submitted a profile and have not yet received an Invitation to Apply, which means you haven’t actually applied for PR.
